Alright, this is my first blog post!
I had a wordpress blog that I shuttered last year, because I didn't want to keep paying and be stuck with wordpress and the whims of its CEO. So I commited to learning HTML, CSS, and how to build and manage my own website all on my own!
In the near future I'll buy a hosting plan, probably from someplace like dreamhost, and then I'll be fully under my own domain. For now, the free plan with Neocities is fine. Neocities is such a great hosting platform for learning your own web development. It has a giant community and lots of resources. It does have it's limitations though, mainly with regards to space and security, so eventually I want a paid hosting plan.
If you want to give making your own site I try, I highly recommend going over to htmlforpeople.com, and go through the lessons there. It'll actually have you setup on the web at Neocities before you know it.
It'll be nice having a space all my own on the net, where I can share my thoughts and art without having to worry about the whims and bullshit ideas of overvalued tech bros and their enshittified, capitalistic algorithms.
